Abstract

The title compound, [(C4H10NSF2)2][SiF6], was isolated as a decomposition product of diethylaminosulfur trifluoride. The structure consists of two monovalent (diethylamino)difluorosulfonium cations surrounding one divalent hexafluorosilicate anion. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C/2c with a = 13.7587(8) Å, b = 11.9160(7) Å, c = 11.6425(7) Å, β = 118.300(3)°, and V = 1680.63(17) Å3. The structure contains an extensive hydrogen-bonding network as well as intermolecular sulfur-fluoride interactions. The compound was further characterized by 1H-NMR and 19F-NMR.
