Capturing Electronic Journals Management in a Flowchart

Abstract

In 2005, a team led by the Electronic Resources Access Librarian in the University of Nevada, Reno Libraries created a flowchart document illustrating the highly complex processes involved in considering, negotiating, purchasing, and implementing new electronic-journal subscriptions. The process of creating the flowchart is explained, and a copy of the flowchart itself is provided. The chart has proved useful in seeing how various parts of the e-journal acquisitions process fit together and in diagnosing and preventing workflow problems.
