Abstract

The goal of P.I.N.C.H. is to develop an interface for Bally Technologies that allows their webbased games to securely communicate with physical machine hardware over a network. This task will require network communication between the server hosting the game and the hardware in the machine. Communication with the hardware is already implemented by the operating system, so we will implement a layered architecture that will allow the server to communicate securely with the hardware interface in the operating system. Messages from the server will be sent to a network communication layer via secure TCP sockets, and this layer will communicate directly with the operating system. This will allow players to insert money and collect winnings, and allow the game to access players’ card information or even trigger machine tilts.
