Abstract

Upper Paleozoic formations of a portion of the central Bimona Range have been mapped and studied in detail. The Permian sedimentary rocks, here separated into seven lithologic units, have boon assigned to the upper Wolfeampian sad the Leonurdlan on the bases of Schwagerina youngeuisti and Parafusulina respectively. The upper unit is probably upper Permian. Remarkable erosional and angular unconformities were caused by the osier thence of positive areas of regional extent. Formations were wholly or partly removed. The structure consists of broad asymmetrical anticlines and synclines. Moderate normal faults are present in the southern part of the mapped area. Along the crest of the range compressive stresses folded the Noleen formation into a series of tight disharmonic folds and later overturned it eastward.
