Abstract

NightSafe is a device created by electrical engineering students at the University of Nevada, Reno to help decrease crimes against people who walk at night. Consisting of a sensor array and an alarm system, the NightSafe module is a portable security device that can increase the user’s safety by detecting possible threats behind the user or by notifying authorities when it realizes the user has been attacked. This paper explains the preliminary testing and work on the NightSafe module, details the work that will next be accomplished, and explores the possible methods and implementations of the NightSafe module in the future.
