Abstract

Jasperoid at the Cgee-Pinson disseminated gold deposit is genetically related to gold mineralization. Jasperoid formation and gold mineralization accompanied low to moderate temperature and pressure hydrothermal activity. Minerals that formed during hydrothermal activity were quartz, chalcedony, pyrite, marcasite, sencite and kaolinite. Jasperoid formed by replacement of calcite by silica and by precipitation of silica in voids. The timing of processes affecting jasperoid during and after its formation was: (J) replacement of calcite by quartz, deposition of sericite and some Au, As and 5b; (2) replacement of calcite by quartz, deposition of pyrite, marcasite, Au, As and Sb; (5) brecciation; (4) deposition of chalcedony, pyrite, marcasite, kaolinite, Au, As and Sb leaching of K20 and TiCb, (?); (5) fragmentation upon dehydration of chalcedony; (6.) deposition of quartz and pyrite; (7) oxidation with redistribution' of Fe and As and formation of calcite veins; and (8) formation of silica and calcite veins.
