Abstract
The Nevada State Undergraduate Research Journal
(NSURJ) was established in 2011 by the Associated
Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN). In the Fall
of 2014, NSURJ published its first volume. Now, NSURJ
celebrates its third year of publishing original, thesisdriven, professionally reviewed undergraduate research.
NSURJ was founded to empower the undergraduate
student body of Nevada and provide an outlet for their
original, creative, and scholarly work.
This year, we, as the Senior Editors, performed outreach
towards incoming and long-time students at multiple
institutions serving undergraduates in the state of Nevada.
Many people with whom we spoke were excited about
research and undergraduate publication; however, the
journal’s youth was often apparent, with many people not
being familiar with NSURJ. To combat the lack of
awareness about NSURJ, the Senior Editors reached-out
to UNLV to begin the process of creating a new Senior
Editor position for the journal in southern Nevada. This
position will soon be filled and add to the wide-reaching
capabilities of NSURJ. We are ecstatic to grow the journal
to be a truly statewide publication.
