Abstract

Gold is an element known since antiquity. It has been used as a stable currency and is still used as an investment material today. Gold, like many resources, it is a finite supply, and the modern mining industry needs to find ways to effectively extract gold from the ground. The project focuses on the leaching of gold, the process which chemically extracts the element from processed ore (after the refractory processes). In this paper, the team will explore the various steps of chemically extracting gold, from mineralogy to refractory processes (as well as alternate processes) to leaching and finally recovery.
