Abstract

This study examined factors related to sleep quality among freshman students at a large western public university. Specifically, this study investigated how living environment realtes to a student's sleep quality. Using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), similarities and differences between bedtime, rise time, sleep duration, sleep latency, sleep efficiency, sleep disturbances. daytime dysfunction, use of sleep medication, and overall sleep quality were assessed in the on-campus and off-campus groups. Although the study did not yield significant results in the analyses of the on-campus and off-campus groups, additional relationships between the existing literature and the overall results of the study were found. These findings provide insight into sleep habits, patterns, and overall sleep quality among college students, presenting a framework for future sleep research in the college population.
