Abstract

Amino acids could prove to be a useful and inexpensive feedstock for degradative generation of peptoid starting materials. Tolman chemistry and Baran redox-active ester (RAE) chemistry were both investigated for their utility in selectively decarboxylating amino acids in one or two steps. The research did not discover a successful pathway to accomplish this goal. However, Baran RAE chemistry remains a promising prospect for future discovery. Introduction
