Abstract

This study seeks to shape singing accuracy in the absence of auditory prompts or feedback, sometimes known as absolute pitch. Four students were selected for inclusion: two with prior vocal training and two without any prior musical training. An 8 step stimulus fading procedure was implemented to gradually transition from mimicry, to singing accurately relative to auditory prompts and feedback, and finally singing accurately in the absence of auditory prompts or feedback.
