Abstract
With the depletion of the higher grade ore deposits in this country, the mineral industry is forced into working the lower grade, more complex ore deposits in its never ceasing efforts to meet the demands of our expanding economy. Contingent with the working of these low grade ore bodies is the necessity of grinding to finer and finer sizes to obtain liberation of ore and gangue particles. Our modern ore dressing plants are making separations of particles that a few years ago were considered inseparable and would have been sent directly to the waste pile. The purpose of tills thesis was to develop a differential pressure flotation system capable of separating valuable ore minerals from waste tailing products. Following the development of this flotation system, a series of tests were run to determine optimum operating conditions for this test cell, finally, a series of tests were run in this teat cell and in a standard laboratory Fagergren flotation cell under similar controlled conditions. The results of these tests were compared to learn if higher or los or recoveries of ore minerals are obtained in the test cell.
