Abstract

To fulfill the requirements of the Mechanical Engineering capstone course, ME 452, Team A Pill in Time chose to design an automatic pill dispenser. The team first conducted background research on existing pill dispensers, as well as the critical needs of the target market, to create a product that would be innovative, useful, and inexpensive. The final design was selected from the initial models and concepts, then modified to fulfill the project design specifications outlined by the team. An engineering analysis was then conducted in Solidworks to determine the viability and capability of the proposed design. 3D models were also created in the same program to not only showcase the details of the team's design, but to also prepare for the manufacturing process. The team's plan was to procure all electronic components, then 3D print the remaining physical components from PLA. After sufficient testing was completed, the prototype was compared to each entry of the project design specifications to justify that the team completed their design objective.?
