Abstract
Anonymous in the Chaos is a four-part poetry manuscript featuring the themes of loss, sexuality, and family. The first part, "This Tented Life", contains persona poems that deal with the motif of women under duress. The second part, "Reflections on a Vague Obituary", contains poems that are elegiac in nature, mourning the death of the speaker's father and grandfather. One poem treats a person who has passed away of a drug overdose, which speaks to the issue of addiction. There are a series of poems in this section that deal with the father, going chronologically from childhood memory to a depiction of the deathbed scene. The third part, "New Stoicism", deals with the romantic "break-up" narrative between the speaker and the "you", in which the speaker comes to a new state of detachment from the "you". This transitions into the fourth section, "The Comfort of Being Insignificant", which contains more surreal poems with natural imagery. This section moves away from a coherent narrative and towards a concept of the self as dislocated or other.
